Your Unconscious Agenda: Why You Keep Sabotaging Yourself

The Unconscious Agenda: Why You Keep Going Back to What You Know

You’ve done the work. You’ve read the books, invested in coaching, shifted your mindset… and yet, somehow, you keep ending up back where you started.

Maybe you’ve broken through financially, only to find yourself in debt again. Maybe you’ve walked away from toxic relationships, only to repeat the same pattern with someone new. Or maybe success finally arrives—then somehow slips right through your fingers.

This week on The One Person Podcast, we dive deep into the hidden force behind self-sabotage: the unconscious agenda. This isn’t about laziness, bad luck, or not wanting it enough. It’s about survival.

Because your unconscious mind doesn’t care about success, abundance, or happiness.
It only cares about one thing: keeping you alive.
And whatever you’ve survived? It assumes you should experience again—no matter how painful or dysfunctional.

What Is the Unconscious Agenda?

From childhood, your unconscious creates a framework of what’s survivable. It learns that love can come with pain, success can bring rejection, or stillness might equal punishment.

And once it learns that… it repeats it. Because if you survived it once, your unconscious believes it's safe—even if it feels terrible.

This is why so many lottery winners go broke, athletes end up bankrupt, and powerful women shrink at the moment of expansion. It’s not because they don’t want more—it’s because more doesn’t feel safe.

Real-Life Patterns That Don’t Make Sense (But Totally Do)

Staying in toxic relationships because chaos feels more familiar than peace

  • Creating success and then sabotaging it through “bad timing” or “burnout”

  • Avoiding opportunities because your nervous system flares up at the idea of visibility

  • Repeating the same emotional experiences because your unconscious sees them as survival markers

And the kicker?
These patterns don’t change just because you understand them.
They change when you become aware of the unconscious objection that’s been running the show—and recode it from within.

The Six Unconscious Agendas Covered in This Episode:

1. The Helper

Belief: “I’m only worthy if I’m needed.”
This agenda trades your power for approval, your boundaries for belonging.

2. The Achiever

Belief: “I’m not good enough unless I’m constantly succeeding.”
This one confuses self-worth with external proof—and never lets you rest.

3. The Love Seeker

Belief: “If I’m rejected, I’ll die.”
A fear of exclusion leads to people-pleasing, undercharging, and staying small.

4. The Overthinker

Belief: “The world isn’t safe unless I understand everything first.”
Stuck in research mode, this agenda delays action indefinitely in the name of “just being prepared.”

5. The Avoider

Belief: “Negative emotions are dangerous, so I avoid them at all costs.”
This agenda masks itself as optimism—but underneath is a fear of ever really feeling.

6. The Perfectionist

Belief: “Nothing I do is ever good enough.”
This one leads to over-working, over-editing, and never sharing your work with the world.

And here’s the twist:

Every unconscious agenda holds a superpower.

When you bring them into the light, they transform from limitation into genius.

Your unconscious agenda isn’t your enemy.
It brought you this far.
But now, it’s your turn to update the software.
To choose a new version of safety—one rooted in truth, not survival.

“You are not here to fix yourself.
You are here to remember who you are—
And to give your unconscious permission to let you be that person, fully and safely.”
